Cherry Apple Pie
45 minutes
Serves

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups green apple, chopped
- 1 jar Chukar® Sweet Cherry Pie Filling
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 Tbsp white sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1 prepared pie crust (top and bottom) or 1 recipe of your favorite homemade pie crust (top and bottom)
Directions
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare pie crusts and set aside or set out store bought pie crusts to defrost.
- In a medium pot, over medium heat, mix together apple chunks, butter, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch and spices. Let cook until mixture becomes bubbly and apples soften slightly (about 10 minutes).
- Add Chukar® Sweet Cherry Pie Filling to the apple mixture and let simmer for 5 minutes to set flavors.
- Remove apple-cherry mixture from stove and pour into prepared bottom pie crust. Lay the top crust on the pie and pinch together the edges of each crust. Cut a small "X" shape in the center of the top crust . Alternatively, cut out your favorite shapes from the top pie crust & decorate as desired. Bake pie for 45 minutes or until crusts turn golden brown and apples are soft. If the crusts begin to brown before the baking time is up, cover the edges with foil and continue to bake.
- Note: 2 mini pies can be made instead of 1 full pie size. To make mini pies: split your favorite pie crust recipe (or store bought crust) into two parts and prepare the bottom crusts in mini pie pans. After pouring the filling inside, use a pizza cutter to cut strips of pie dough to create a lattice decoration on one pie. On the other pie, roll out dough and use your favorite cookie shape cutter to cut out shapes. Place the cut out shapes in a circle starting at the outmost edge and work your way into the center, providing good coverage of the surface of the filling. Bake pies together at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes.
